Mira Nair's son finds leading man for mum's movie!

Malaysia Sun (ANI) Friday 2nd March, 2007

New York, Mar 2: Director Mira Nair is glad her adolescent son lead her to actor Karl Penn, even though 'Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle,' made her stomach turn.

"My son led me to Kal Penn," the woman who helmed "The Namesake" told the crowd at Tuesday's Tribeca Cinema Series screening of the film.

"I had no idea he existed, and he's like a god to a 15-year-old," The New York Daily News quoted her, as adding.

Penn gained teen-movie fame playing stoner characters like Kumar and Taj Mahal Badalandabad of "Van Wilder" fame.

"I naturally put in a scene of marijuana-smoking," said Nair, before adding: "A little homage to Kumar goes a long way."

When asked if she has she seen "Harold and Kumar"? Nair replied: "I've seen about half of it. I couldn't take more. It was absolutely puerile. I love the bravery of it, but I couldn't take it."
