Father of U.K suspect appeals to King of Jordan

BigNewsNetwork.com Monday 2nd July, 2007

The father of the Jordanian doctor, reportedly being questioned by British police over three failed bombings, says his son is a devoted surgeon and incapable of carrying out such attacks.

U.K. police believe Mohammed Asha, the 27-year-old father of a small boy, could be the mastermind of the bomb plots.

Mohammed Asha's father, speaking from Amman, said he had only found out about his son’s arrest after watching a television news program.

He described his son as pious, but not an extremist, without time to even attend a mosque.

Jamil Asha said his son obtained his medical degree in Jordan in 2004 after attending a school for gifted students in Amman, and the following year left for Britain to pursue his studies in his chosen field of neurology.

Jamil has called on Jordan's King Abdullah II to intervene with the British authorities over the arrest of his son.
