Elizabeth Taylor joins race to be Sunset Boulevard diva

Malaysia Sun (ANI) Tuesday 21st August, 2007

Washington, August 21 : Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor has entered the race to play Sunset Boulevard diva Norma Desmond on the big screen.

Screen veterans like Meryl Streep, Glenn Close and Barbra Streisand are being considered for the role by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, who composed the music for his version of the 1950 film classic.

But, Taylor is convinced that she will be able to do total justice to the role of Desmond, originally played by Gloria Swanson.

"Sunset Boulevard is the kind of vehicle that could suit me now," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.

However, the 'Cleopatra' star admits that she may struggle with the part because she isn't convinced about her singing ability.

"I'm not sure about the singing," she said.
