QUEZON CITY, Nov. 30 (PIA) - The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) allotted an initial Php10 billion credit assistance to local government units, water districts, and private companies under the Lending Initiatives for Sanitation (LINIS) program.
DBP Program Officer Enrico Lanzanas during the second webinar series on Financing Household Sanitation as part of the celebration of World Toilet Day 2020 shared that the program was launched in 2019 to fund infrastructure, facilities, truck equipment, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering designs .
Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) committed to supporting LGU sanitation programs through policy development and technical assistance such as linking them to international and local funding institutions such as the DBP-LINIS program.
National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Assistant Secretary Erick Planta said the government is championing sanitation but development partners are needed to help bridge the gap.
"Important pieces of the puzzles should be there [and] we need our development partners' help. We need a bigger community to help us bridge the gap," Planta said while emphasizing that financing support needs to complement the behavioral change.
To avail of DBP-LINIS Program, interested parties may visit the DBP website www.dbp.ph or to the nearest DBP lending centers for more details. (MBP/PIA-IDPD)
