KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported another 19,495 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Wednesday, bringing the national total to 2,030,935.
Of the new cases, 11 are imported and 19,484 are local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed.
Another 422 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 22,009.
About 18,760 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 1,783,336.
Of the remaining 225,590 active cases, 1,280 are being held in intensive care and 638 of those are in need of assisted breathing.
The country reported 248,810 doses administered on Wednesday alone and some 66.5 percent of the population have received at least one dose and 54.6 percent are fully vaccinated.
