SUVA -- Fiji has reported 104 new COVID-19 cases over the last three days while Samoa has recorded one more COVID-19-related death this week.
In Fiji, the country's Permanent Secretary for Health James Fong confirmed that of the 104 new COVID-19 cases, 31 were reported in the last 24 hours, according to Fiji Broadcasting Corporation on Friday. (Fiji-Samoa-COVID-19 Update)

TOKYO -- An unknown liquid was released in a train on Friday in Japan's Chiba Prefecture, close to Tokyo, local media quoted investigators as saying.
While the investigators said the liquid smelled similar to vinegar and didn't appear to look dangerous, two teenage girls who were near the liquid complained of pains and were taken to the hospital. (Japan-Train-Unknown Liquid)

CANBERRA -- Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed he will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron in a bid to "reset" relations.
Albanese said Thursday night that he has accepted Macron's invitation to visit France.
It comes weeks after Albanese announced his new government had agreed to pay French shipbuilder Naval Group around 830 million Australian dollars (about 573 million U.S. dollars) in compensation for a canceled submarine contract. (Australia-France-Relations)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia reported 2,796 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Thursday, bringing the national total to 4,549,847, according to the health ministry.
There are 209 new imported cases, with 2,587 cases being local transmissions, data released by the ministry showed. (Malaysia-COVID-19 Update)
