BENGALURU, India, June 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- GameChange Solar, a leading global supplier of solar tracker and fixed-tilt racking technology, has extended its support to the Indian Institute of Technology Madras' (IIT Madras) Team AgniRath, backing their mission to develop a cutting-edge solar-powered vehicle for the 2025 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.
Led by a 48-member team of undergraduate students, AgniRath represents India's push toward sustainable mobility and engineering excellence. The initiative is hosted under IIT Madras' Centre for Innovation and reflects the institute's continued leadership in renewable energy research and hands-on student learning. Their upcoming vehicle, Aagneya, is set to represent India at the world's premier solar car competition - a 3,000 km endurance race across the Australian outback.
Commenting on the impact of GameChange Solar's contribution, Team Agnirath's key mentor, Prof Sivakumar, Professor of Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering, IIT Madras, said "The Agnirath team is truly blossoming into an exceptionally responsible, hardworking, and highly enthusiastic group, brimming with eagerness to make an impact in the 2025 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. Their vigour in developing the current version of the vehicle, aptly named Aagneya, has been nothing short of inspiring. This drive was significantly bolstered by the participation of generous sponsors like GameChange Solar, whose support has provided an invaluable boost to the team's confidence."
"Supporting AgniRath goes beyond corporate social responsibility for us; it's about investing in the future of engineering and clean energy. These young innovators are pushing boundaries that align closely with our mission - to accelerate the transition to solar power through both technology and talent," said Vikas Bansal, President - International at GameChange Solar.
After debuting at the 2023 World Solar Challenge as India's only participating team, AgniRath is set to return with its next-generation solar vehicle, Aagneya. With an aerodynamic design, high-efficiency flexible solar modules, and an in-house manufactured carbon fiber chassis, the car exemplifies deep-rooted innovation and sustainability.
"We are thrilled to partner with GameChange Solar in empowering our students to engineer sustainable mobility solutions for the future. Their generous contribution has directly enabled the fabrication of key components of our solar car - including the battery packs, visor, and carbon fibre body structures - helping us undertake critical testing and development as we gear up for the World Solar Challenge in Australia. Harnessing solar power is imperative for a developing country like India, and such sustainable solutions will catalyse our efforts towards a solar empowered future." said Prof Ashwin Mahalingam, Dean - Alumni and Corporate Relations, IIT Madras.
This initiative reflects GameChange Solar's long-term commitment to advancing clean energy, nurturing next-generation talent, and supporting innovation ecosystems in the regions it operates.
