Malda (West Bengal) [India], April 12 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh on Friday alleged a conspiracy to drive out Hindu populations from several districts of West Bengal, including Malda, Murshidabad, Dinajpur, Nadia, Birbhum, and Howrah.
Ghosh claimed that people from Bangladesh are entering India and causing unrest, leading to repeated attacks on the Hindu community and asserted that there's a deliberate effort to make these districts 'free of Hindu population'.
Speaking to ANI, Ghosh said, 'A conspiracy is underway to make Malda, Murshidabad, Dinajpur, Nadia, Birbhum, Howrah districts free of Hindu population... People from Bangladesh are coming here and causing chaos. The Hindu community is being attacked again and again.
Ghosh, MP Khagen Murmu, and others staged a protest in Malda, West Bengal, gheraoing the District Magistrate's office. They raised slogans and demanded swift action on key local issues.
Ghosh said that people had been threatened ahead of Ram Navami in Mothabari, Maida, and Murshidabad, further stating that the rally was carried out to strengthen the Hindu Community.
'People are threatened ahead of Ram Navami in Mothabari, Malda and Murshidabad... Our rally was against that and to warn the government... We carried out a rally to give strength to the Hindu Community here... We wanted to go to the DM office, but the DM had already left... We have presented our point, and if our demands are not met, the protest will continue...,' said Ghosh.
On April 11, the party leader, Suvendu Adhikari, asserted that the incident that took place in Mothabari would not be repeated in the future and that the BJP in West Bengal would provide protection to the Hindus.
He met the victims of Mothabari violence on Friday.
Suvendu Adhikari said, 'In the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, TMC lost badly in Malda. There are 66 percent Muslim voters and 34 percent Hindu voters in Malda. Farmers, poor and Hindus are being oppressed in the vote bank politics to save CM Mamata Banerjee's seat by consolidating Muslim votes and to be the CM by doing appeasement politics. The court should intervene in it. We are going to all the places where Hindus are being oppressed. We will give protection to Hindus, and Mothabari won't be repeated anywhere.'
He further said that in many places in West Bengal, he has worked to stop atrocities against the Hindus in the last four years.
Suvendu Adhikari visited the violence-hit area of Mothabhari in the Malda district of West Bengal.
Earlier, Adhikari had claimed that around 86 shops and houses of people from the Hindu community were 'looted and destroyed', and he is going to meet the families in the area.
Violence had broken out between two groups in the Mothabari-Malda area on March 27. Since then, 61 people have been arrested, and the Internet has been suspended in three areas. (ANI)
