New Delhi [India], July 1 (ANI): Congress MP Jairam Ramesh took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, ahead of his five-nation visit. The Congress leader alleged that PM Modi is running away from national issues.
Sharing an X post, Jairam Ramesh wrote, 'When the going gets tough, the self-styled toughs get going. The Super Premium Frequent Flier PM is off on a 5-nation, 8-day jaunt. He is running away from at least 4 issues that are agitating the nation.'
Listing the national issues, Ramesh targeted PM Modi over the ethnic violence in Manipur.
'1. Manipur, which he has not visited ever since the double engine in the state got derailed and ever since normal life in the state has got totally destroyed,' he wrote on X.
On the issue of Operation Sindoor, he alleged that India suffered setbacks on the first two days of the operation and also mentioned US President Donald Trump's claim of mediation between India and Pakistan.
'2. Revelations by defence officials that India suffered reverses in the first two days of Operation Sindoor because of the PM's decisions. 3. Continued claims by President Trump that he effected a ceasefire between India and Pakistan using the trade deal as a carrot and stick,' he wrote.
Ramesh also targeted the Prime Minister for not bringing the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack to justice.
'4. The continued failure to bring the Pahalgam terrorists to justice, even after 70 days. The failure is all the more glaring given they may have been earlier involved in terror attacks in Poonch (Dec 2023) and Gagangir & Gulmarg (Oct 2024),' the post further read.
Earlier, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi launched an attack against the BJP-led government over his allegations of mediation by the United States in Operation Sindoor, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'followed' Donald Trump following a call by the US leader.
Addressing a convention of Congress workers in Bhopal, Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP-RSS and alleged that if slight pressure is exerted on them, 'they run away out of fear'.
'Now, I understand RSS-BJP well. If slight pressure is put on them, they run away out of fear. When Trump called Modiji, Modiji kya kar rahe ho, Narender-Surrender and with 'ji hazooor', Narenderji followed Trump. In the 1971 war, the Seventh Fleet came from the US. Indira Gandhi said, I will do whatever I have to do. This is the difference. This is their character; all of them are like this. Since the Independence movement, they have had this habit of writing letters of surrender,' Rahul Gandhi said.
Meanwhile, PM Modi will embark on a five-nation visit from July 2, during which he will attend the BRICS Summit in Brazil and hold meetings with leaders of Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina and Namibia to strengthen bilateral ties. (ANI)
