Trump says he is "not happy" with nuclear talks, no final decision on Iran strike
U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday he is "not happy" with the way the U.S.-Iran nuclear talks are going but has not made a final decision on potential military operations against Iran.
"I'm not happy with the fact that they're not willing to give us what we have to have. I'm not thrilled with that. We'll see what happens. We're talking later," Trump told reporters as he left the White House ahead of his trip to Texas.
"We haven't made a final decision" on whether to attack Iran, he said, reiterating that Iran "cannot have nuclear weapons."
Iraqi, Iranian FMs stress diplomacy to avert escalation in Middle East
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi emphasized during a phone call Friday that negotiations are the most appropriate way to resolve outstanding issues, amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
An Iraqi Foreign Ministry statement said that Araghchi briefed Hussein on the latest developments of the Geneva negotiations between Iran and the United States, including the progress of the talks and the schedule for upcoming technical meetings.
Hussein stressed the importance of continuing dialogue, as both ministers emphasized the need to avert the dangers of escalation and war in the region and to maintain regional security and stability, according to the statement.
France issues security advisory for nationals amid Iran-related risks
The French Foreign Ministry on Friday issued a security advisory for French nationals against travel to Israel, Jerusalem and the West Bank.
In a statement, the ministry said that in light of the security situation in Iran and its possible local repercussions, travel to Israel, Jerusalem and the West Bank remains discouraged, including for tourism and family visits.
It warned that, depending on developments in the regional situation and the possibility of airspace closures, flight cancellations and delays could occur, and urged French nationals to contact their airlines should security conditions deteriorate.
Egyptian FM, U.S. envoy Witkoff discuss latest U.S.-Iran indirect talks over phone
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and U.S. president's special envoy Steve Witkoff discussed the latest developments of the indirect talks between the United States and Iran during a phone call on Friday.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Abdelatty reaffirmed Cairo's support for diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving outstanding issues through negotiations.
He stressed Egypt's commitment to continuing the negotiation path and avoiding escalation in the region, emphasizing the importance of reaching compromises that serve the interests of all parties.
UN chief calls for immediate cessation of hostilities between Afghanistan, Pakistan
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday called for an immediate cessation of hostilities between Afghanistan and Pakistan, his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said.
"I can tell you that the Secretary-General is deeply concerned by the escalation of violence between Afghanistan and Pakistan and the impact that violence is having on civilian populations," Dujarric told a daily briefing.
The UN chief reiterated his call on the parties to resolve any differences through diplomacy, the spokesperson added.
